so why was Panda bear's thread locked?

It was about a medical condition, and didn't have any conversations about the "S" word.

I already stated my opinion about (a potential)locking of that thread BEFORE it got locked, so won't repeat it here.

I thought it was a decent thread that didn't get out of line except a few harmless jokes, but 90% of answers were serious and to the point.

I'm sorry, but that is rediculous!

A guy has a problem, and is worried about it. Before consulting professional help, like most people do, he casually asks his firends for help and opinions on what it could be.

We're his friends. doesn't matter that we are on an internet forum, we're his peer group that he's comfortable with, so he turns to us. Don't women turn to their friends for help when they have a problem?

What, are we on such a macho site that we can't have any 'touchy-feely-helpy' stuff? The topic was NOT sexual, and it didn't get obcene, so it just comes down to ultra-conservative mods who can't think outside the box.....so sad!

Maybe it is not so bad that it was locked. The jokes were harmless, but, all the information and advice that could be given, was given. His wife refuses to see a doctor. The thread would have only went south from where it was as all suggestions were all ready in.

Seemed to be equal parts honest advice and some juvenile (ok, so I'm guilty) snickering. It did go on a lot longer than I expected given how quickly some other "less controversial" threads have been squelched.

It was locked because we have some people on this site that want to act like they're 12 years old. The man's wife is sick, he comes here for advice and you bunch of geniuses can't help but make a joke. No wonder we get treated like children by the mods. The membership is a bunch of 40-odd year old preteens.

I think out of respect to the OP it was good it was locked, even if he himself didn't ask for it. It served its purpose and became time to move on.

eljefino is correct. I locked it because the question had been answered and it was turning into a lot of jokes at Panda bears expense. I hope he will post the results of the doctors visit in Dec. We are a family and we are concerned about each other.

Fair enough. I agree the question was answered to the best of our 'abilites' here. A medical professional will have to handle it from here. I just hope all turns out okay.....

I posted some questionable pictures to Panda's thread that were quickly removed. My apologies, no harm intended.

My wife has been very ill since somebody slammed into her car head-on two winters ago. Life is too short to go through it wound up too tight. Moderation is the key and a bit of humor helps ease life's pain. If you can't laugh at yourself and what life doles out......

Kudos to those here that step up to the plate whenever someone here posts of personal problems.
