Ours have been subsidized, so about all this might do is delay an increase.

This winter I've been wearing a long-sleeve t-shirt at home. I've also been drinking more to keep me warm. Uhm, tea. Right. My gas bill for December was still about 1/3 higher than last year's December bill.
My price has dropped 3%, now I'm rich!
Its gonna' get worse. More and more Electric utilities are going to natural gas bc installed cost is cheap and maintenance is low.Smaller houses and lower thermostats are the future.

I'm calling and writing to my gas utility. If they can float up and hold bill rates based on all time NG highs, I want a piece of that action.

Interesting I just read in todays paper that our regional provider appylied for a reduction in rates,and the 7% sounds like the same number
I'm doing my part to stick it to these utility companys. My gas bill will be just for stovetop cooking ad drying clothes. Heat is geothermal.

Pablo, you're doing the right thing by calling them to complain, but I'm not sure how much short-term effect it will have. Is your home air sealed and do you have the maximum insulation R-values? Doing this can shave 30%.

Cut the use and see what happens.
We have cut our use this winter by about 30%. Bill is still $40+ higher than last year. On our last bill, we used 100 CCF of gas, last year used 140 CCF. Bill was $180 and last year 140 CCF was about $150. A 100 CCF bill last year would have been about $125.
