So, I blew a speaker in my truck...

No offense taken. I could go out tomorrow and buy a new pickup, or go to a high end stereo shop and have a complete new stereo system installed.

I'm just too cheap to do it.

Installed the front door speakers this morning. The factory ones were marked as being 4 ohm, which somewhat surprised me.

I reused the factory tweeters, as the time and effort to mount the new ones was going to be more involved than I wanted to tackle today. I've figured out HOW I want to do it... it's just the time involved in doing it that's the problem. (can you say a winter project!)

When I work on a stereo on a car, I want it to look as neat and clean as a factory installation when I'm done. Therefore, I spend more time figuring and planning, than I do working.

I pulled the rear door panels off to scout out what it will take to R&R the rear door speakers... Looks like a 30 minute job per side. Yes! I'll get some new speakers ordered this weekend, and should be able to get those installed some night after work, next week.

And after that, will be a head unit and running the wiring for a sub. Then, finally, installing a sub and a sub box under the back seat.

Small steps... lots of planning!

A bit late to your thread, but I suggest you try both Parts Express and Madisound. Keep in mind that you don't want a driver with a compliant suspension for a car, you want a driver with a stiff suspension meant to be mounted in free-air. Ask them for advice.
