My owners manual for my snowblower says the gearbox for the auger requires a 90 weight gear oil. But I went to a couple big box stores like Wal mart and CT and I didn't see any 90 weight gear oil, the only thing that came close was a bottle of 75w90 gear oil for a snowmobile, but then again this manual was written in 1982 so has the name changed for what I'm looking for?

any ideas

thanks

I would guess that 75W-90 gear oil should be fine, you might want to PM Pablo or Gary Allan, they would know better than me.

Any 80w90 will work...those are such a low speed gearbox that its not that critical.

Being 1982, they probably expected a conventional oil...

Any 75W or 80W-90 gear lube will work just fine. If you want good stuff then use a synthetic gear lube. I use Amsoil gear lube in mine, been in there about 9 yrs. I don't ever expect to chain it. 1999 model 13hp Ariens Professional
