Recently got a new HP desktop ....

A couple of days ago a MS pop up screen came up and asked whether I wanted to download MS WE 2011 bundle or update the existing esseitials programs....I wasn't sure about it so for security sake I brought up the Windows update screen and clicked on updates....to see exactly what the details were ..sure enough without warning it instantly downloaded the entire WE 2011 bundle including that annoying Bing bar.... I know i can uninstall it but MS should warn you about downloads of any kind before they execute ...

The worst part is that I would have preferred to keep the abbreviated Essnetials that originally came with the system....

System restore will work but I know that from expereince sometimes this will can glitches in future performance .

I've never had any problems with the system after doing a system restore. If anything, it fixes problems.

A week or so ago I did some things to a relative's two year old Vista laptop. I did Windows Update, and it downloaded Live (it was an optional update). It made it so the OS would not load. Took me two times restoring to an earlier point in time to figure out what was causing the problem.

I check the list of updates before I let them install.

Some of this stuff, I don't want it on older machines.

This isn't Windows's fault, it's your fault for choosing (or not changing) to have Windows 7 download and install recommended updates along with important ones. Live Essentials 2011 is a recommended update. Easy.

And why do you think you need to go to System Restore to roll this back? Just remove the components you don't want from Control Panel. This isn't a big deal.

Actually I was in the process of doing just (your top paragraph) that but didn't get to it in time...

What also concerned me is that when it downloaded the bundled version of WE 2011 it successfully downloaded the 1st part of the download but the 2nd part seemed to hang and didn't totally complete (yet it is listed in the list of programs after the download)Anyway to confirm manually that the bundled download was completely successful on win7?..BTW this is a brand new HP with a Core i5 and 6 gigs of DDR3 ram....

So you think it I just uninstall through the programs menu I won't have any issues?
