Snap-On Tool Warranty

1971 finished trade school HVAC. Bought socket set from a pawn shop Snap on 3/8" they wouldn't replace a worn out socket. 4 years later went to work for a contractor that bought all my tools. The only tool in 40 years that i bought was a 15 ton blue point puller. For a two dollar socket they lost thousands.

I bought mostly Snap-On tools maybe 50 years when I was an apprentice VW mechanic. They were generally good quality and even bought a Snap-On top and bottom box (which I still cherish) for them to sleep in at night. Well I finally decided to see if the broken bits could get replaced with Snap-On's vaunted replacement policy. Sent them photos (with a ruler for reference) of three small broken handled screwdrivers, a fractured 3/8 drive "x 4" extension and a 1/4" drive broken ratchet. Supplied the markings on each tool as an identifier as requested. Today I received a solitary 17" #2 screwdriver. That tool jumped into first place as longest, least useable screwdriver in my tool box. The defective screwdrivers are all
How can a huge tool company get this so wrong? Are Snap-On tools still worth the extra money?

SnapOn is mostly hype and advertising. As a professional tool user for most of my 67 years, I've learned to avoid them like the plague. There are an awful lot of professional jobs being done with "lesser" tools everyday, and I worked in mission critical situations.

Lol.

My dad was a farmer in Saskatchewan and developed a good relationship with a guy that ran a truck. He’d come out to the farm every month or so and dad would generally spend a few grand a year on tools back in the 70’s and 80’s.

We’re on the west coast now and the truck guy has long since retired so I helped dad with warrantying a couple of tools recently. They suggested going to our franchisee but when I told them the situation they were happy to do the warranty via email/courier. I’ll attach pics but the issue with the ratchet was the on/off selector breaking off. The 1/4” nut driver handle just seemingly disintegrated. The brown goo was an attempt at glueing but the rest just got like that a few years back, with no chemicals or anything that caused it. It’s from a 1/4” socket set and both of these were bought from the truck in the late 70’s or early 80’s.

Took two days to receive these.
