Small motors that don’t use oil filters

Can you use regular PCMO in small motors that don’t have oil filters?
I would read this as aircooled ODPE.

Low power push mower can run anything.

Have found Generator OHV Chondas want something sturdier than an ILSAC lube.
As would a small lawn tractor/ride on

Ran Valvoline Racing 10W30 synthetic (the blue oil!) and an oz. of Liquimoly for years.

Now trying Valvoline 5w40 (api sp, acea a3/b3, a3/b4, mb 229.5, 229.3, &226.5, vw 50200/50500 & 50501, bmw ll-01 & ll-14fe+, porche a40, volvo 95200356, renault rn0700 & rn0710, psa b71 2296, and chrysler ms-12633/ ms-10725)

Maybe will try in the big snow blower Chonda OHV too - but I am shy of VM and the 5W has 'em regardless of certs.

At least 80% of people running small engines use no thrills PCMO.
I would guess that it's well into the mid-high 90% range.

Landscapers, farmers and us crazy BITOG people are probably the only ones that consider HDEO, etc.

Arguably some of the best oils to use in small engines is mono grade oil as it holds up well to not shear in the heat, most mono grade oil is using a cheap off the shelf PCMO add package, and most of the "HDEO" monogrades are actually meant for two stroke Detroit engines so they're lower ash and probably more like a PCMO than a 4-stroke diesel oil. If you're asking whether you should use non-detergent, I wouldn't recommend it, many oils sold as "non-detergent" are completely non-additized and a terrible choice for pretty much any engine old or new that can rapidly oxidize from the heat and combustion contaminants, an API SB oil would probably work okay-ish because it atleast contains anti-wear and anti-oxidant additives, but generally they're using an add package very close or identical to anti-wear hydraulic fluid and it's best just to use that oil in air compressors and hydraulic circuits anything that needs oil that doesn't get hot enough to boil off moisture, but pretty much any ICE should generally be ran on detergent oil as it has all the things and ICE needs and it helps keep deposits at bay and an ICE runs hot enough to boil off the moisture in the oil.

Yeah, I try to use some HDEO if some is handy, if not, whatever partial jug of PCMO on the shelf around goes in. All my 4 stroke small engines don't get a lot of hours really, and my walk behind blower, riding mower, and small tiller add up to $800... The tiller is from the 80's, the mower is late 90's and the blower is from the 2000's, and they all seem to have great compression still too, so just keeping some semi clean, decent oil in them seems to be working. Tires is more of a problem I find than anything else...

Yeah definitely could be over 90%.
Depends on what it is for me.
Things that get ran ultra hard like riding lawnmower and pressure washer get heavy duty air cooled engine oil.
The generators would get HD air cooled engine oil too but I need them to start in the winter so they get 5w-40. Although I'll probably get some of that fancy Kawasaki 5w-50 next time I change generator oil.
Everything else that sees relatively normal oil temps, varying load and RPMs gets PCMO. Such as air compressors, wood chipper, stump grinder, log splitter.
Push lawnmowers get whatever bottle of motor oil I happen to have open. For my fleet of push lawnmowers they'll probably get Walmart HD30 Diesel oil when I change them this fall cause that's what's open and it's cheap, unless I use it in my tractor or if there isn't enough. Then they'll get clearance supertech 10w-30 synthetic 10k oil.

I have a costco pressure washer with a B&S engine that has no oil filter. It's one of those "check and add oil" stickered engines (no thanks). I think it recommends 10W30 and it's been getting Amsoil small engine oil after being drained a couple times so far. Would Amsoil SS 5W30 be ok to run in the summer months? I've got some old stock I'm trying to find a home for. TIA.

Pressure washers run hard and hot, I have confirmed mine hits 280f. Use at least a 40 weight oil, 50 is preferred.
I would say use a 20w-50 motorcycle oil.
