Ricky, on my Command V-twin horizontal shaft, I'd get the oil light for 5+ seconds with either a dry OEM or FL400 sized filter. Funny either way because it sounded fine and the hydraulic lifters didn't seem to be effected like they should with no oil pressure. Regardless, for 10sec on an unloaded, idling engine, you're good to go.

Well yea a FL400 is a big filter i wouldn't go to that big of extreme.

My 18hp INTEK has instant pressure with using my Purolator L10241 filter. The engine starts and pressure climes immediately, perfect size filter IMO.

That was the old style P1 before the new yellow ones came out, It takes me around 3 seasons to do a 200-250hr OC.

what's thin?

The "can" itself/sidewalls on your blue looks alot heartier or beefier than the yellow ones ive had for my car, infact ive quit using them for that reason, but i do think their a good filter

LOL, just appears that way to the naked eye on your pic, im not saying they are 4 sure, but i would be interested to know of your finding.......

Well the proof is in the pudding, looks like the new P1's have a thicker can,at least with theses two numbers,i wish i would have had the same part numbers to compare but i must have tossed my Blue #30001 so i used my L10241 off the Mower in my above pic. Each filter was checked multiple times in different spots(excluding the sticker area for obviously reasons)and the pics show the results.

First the Blue(old style P1)..

thanks daman! i would have lost that bet! is it my imagination or are pure ones thinner than most tho?

No problem i forgot to mention squeezing both in your hand you really cant tell there's a difference but there is.

that i don't know for sure,i'll check sometime but i cant remember seeing a big difference from one to the other....

i may start a new topic within the next day or two with measurements for filters brands i have on hand.

The reason i ask.....last pure1 i had, the can seemed like it was only a bit thicker than a pop can, i almost think i could have done some damage to it w just a hand, possibly i got ahold of a strange one, but i would love to know of your findings

I dunno i never had any problems with them never heard of any either, sometimes i run the longer PF52 equivalent on my GM's and they hang lower to the ground never a problem, there strong no one should have any concerns.

i'll start that in the next day or two..
