Small Engine Fuel Stabilizer

What the opinion on the best fuel stabilizer for small engines? I use stabil and never had a issue but I also try to start all my small engines every month. I read on the MMO website that it can be used as a stabilizer but never tried it. I have two bottles of MMO so I was just wondering. Thanks!

I use the g oil stabilizer and it seems to work well. I picked it.up at home depot.

Stabil is cheap and proven. Sea Foam is miracle engine juice for stabilizing, removing moisture and cleaning. More expensive though.

I'm pretty sure the blue/green Sta-Bil is the "ethanol" formula. If you live where oxygenated (ethanol) fuels are mandated or carried, definately use the ethanol formula Sta-Bil. That said, I bought a new Husqvarna mower with a Kohler motor. The Kohler owners manual said that it was approved for 10% ethanol but the fuel separated and the carb corroded. They did warranty it, but the outdoor products center told me they recommend using Premium non-ethanol fuel. They showed me a jar of regular unleaded (with ethanol) that had ethanol formula stabilizer in it. The owner told me that it separated too, but it did take longer to do it. Fortuantly, premium unleaded is available where I live. If you can find it, go with that. Just remember, all states don't always require that pumps with 10% or less ethanol have to be labeled. Missouri is one of those. I confirmed that with the state.

FWIW, I've never used stabilizer and have never had issues, even storing my summer car. Seasonal equipment I just run dry and squirt a little oil in the cylinder. I get my 2 stroke mix about once a year and everything starts right up. Still using up some Lawn Boy 2 cycle oil my dad bought in the late 70's. Just lucky I guess.

It's fascinating that some areas/people have monstrous problems with E 10 and others have been using it for 20+ years with no problems whatsoever.

From talking with the people at Gold Eagle, it seems either Stabil Formula works fine with Ethanol. After figuring the concentration/dose rates, the Blue only has a bit more cleaner in it (why, since ethanol is a good cleaner?). The Blue is also more cost effective. Personally, I think the Blue is mostly marketing shtick.

I also think the only evidence we have regarding stabilizers is our anecdotal stories, nothing more.

yes they do offer a briggs branded stabilizer

For my mower (Honda HRX) gas, I been using MMO and have had no problem. Started it up last week since sitting out since last year. Started right up as usual. But it's always been a easy starting and good running mower since I bought it.
For my other OPE 2-cycle gear, I use the Echo 2-cycle oil. The Echo weed trimmer, Echo back pack blower, and both chainsaws ran fine last week also. May be wrong, but seems someone once told me the Echo 2-cycle oil has some stabilizer in the oil mix. So once mixed with gas, I don't add anything else.

Most of your 2 cycle oils theses days have stabilizer in them already...The newer stabilizers that are for ethonol are to just extend the ethonol from seperating as fast. Like a couple months. I prefer seafoam over stabil brand. But have been using the Quickshot that amsoil came out with last yr. Now that they have it in qt sizes and treats 48 gal of gas.
