man i had a Peugeot 403, looks like columbos car but with four doors
had a four speed on the column, and man would it go through snow

Still not seeing the Peugeots as "big" cars... but looking at the 604 I remember a friend of the family having one. Very nice interior, it seemed a notch above the Renaults I was accustomed to.

Beautiful car. Supposedly they're a nightmare to own and repair, but I saw a lot of them on the road at the time. Maserati engine if I'm not mistaken.

1982 PLYMOUTH 1.6 ltr. Champ ( 2 door hatch ) with twin stick , which is 4 speed manual with another lever for POWER ( lower gear ratio ) / ECONOMY mode for higher gear ratio . Most favorite car was '86 CHEVY Nova (Corolla) 4 door liftback with 1.6 ltr. engine and 3 speed automatic . Next in line was '90 FORD Festiva (MAZDA 121) 2 door hatchback with 1.3 ltr. motor and 3 speed automatic , along with the '93 FESTIVA with 5 speed manual ( or was that 4 ? ) . We currently have 2 '08 TOYOTA Yaris , an sedan ( 4 speed auto ) and the 2 door liftback with 5 speed manual .

Everything is relative, even size. If you want to fit five buffet grazers from Vegas in the 504, you may luck out.

Had an 86' Mazda B2000....Had over 250,000 miles on it when it quit running in 2002...
2008 Saturn Astra XR 3 Door, 5 speed Manual. Love the car!!!
1994 Geo Prizm currently with 231,119 since I filled her up early this afternoon. Basically a 1.6L Toyota Corolla with the 4A-FE engine and a 5 speed transaxle.
I haven't owned a truck always. I had a true compact car. 63 Plymouth Valiant and 64 Dodge Dart. Didn't get into any more small cars till I met my wife. She had a Vega that needed work and I was a mechanically inclined person. Good match eh? I fixed the brakes, put on a new carb from work then built a prototype one for it. Kept it running long past its due date. I had a Fiat 850 and a VW bug while stationed in Italy. I guess my 69 Cuda would be small but it was a muscle car to.

87 Chevy Nova, 89 Toyota pickup, 95 Geo Metro, 86 Toyota Tercel Wagon 4x4, 92 Honda Civic, 91 Mazda Protege, 93 Ford Escort.
I really liked the 4X4 Tercel Wagon I had. It was amazing in the snow, it wasn't powerful enough to get in trouble. The heat wasn't very good though. Too bad it rusted out or I would still be driving it.
I have AWD Subaru's now for the winter and they are also very good, more powerful than the old Toyota and a bit easier to get in trouble though.

Between my wife and myself,1972 ford Pinto, 1988 Plymouth Horizon, 1987 Chevy nova, 1999 Ford Escort, 1997 Saturn Sc2, 2000 Cavalier Z24, and a 2008 Ford Focus. My son had a 1994 Toyota Paseo, until a total loss wreck. My favorite was the Horizon, it gave us 6 trouble free years and 175000 miles. I hope my Focus does the same.
I don't drive small cars, but wifey had:
1988 or so Sentra (before I even knew her)
1989 Accord Lxi coupe (had 170k miles and got rid of it, didn't get very good maintenance; pretty good car)
2000 Saturn SL2 (totaled; was ok, but VERY unsafe)
2003 Elantra GLS 105k miles right now, zero repairs, still going strong. (just got a pioneer cdp receievr today to replace the factory tape/radio ... it's HUGE PITA to install an aftermarket DIN stereo in this car!)
(we like this car the best of all cars she had so far)
