Skyhawk AI vs Purple Pro?

Looking at around 12 TB size for surveillance purposes. Purple Pro prices have been crazy high, so I started to look at Skyhawk AI. Are they comparable for home use?

I guess I could get an 8tb PP for about the same price as 12tb Skyhawk.

I would say the 2 you mention are aprox equal. although at identical prices I'd probably go WD.

too bad no time machine the 18TB skyhawk was going for 280 in 2023

No need for brand loyalty. Any name brand, new, with warranty, drive, will be fine, as long as it’s not SMR.

Both are CMR, I'd do the Skyhawk AI just because it's way cheaper.

WD Purple Pro 2.5 million hours mtbf with 550TB/year workload.

Skyhawk AI 2 million hours mtbf with 550TB/year workload.

Power consumption within 1 watt of each other.

It may depending on the number of cameras and their resolution.
