I have an odd question.
I'm about to replace the high pressure fuel pump for my Cobalt LNF engine and the service manual indicates that "silicon-free engine oil", GM p/n 12345610, which I believe is just regular old GM Goodwrench 5w30, must be used to lubricate a few of the fittings.
Problem is that the closest dealer that stocks this stuff is a 45-minute drive from me. I'm looking at a VOA that someone posted for Pennzoil Ultra 5w30, which I have sitting around at my house, and it shows Si at 2 ppm. I realize that this is not technically silicon-free, but it is pretty close. I haven't been able to locate a VOA for the GM oil to compare.
Anybody have any insight on "silicon-free" oils? I'll make the trip to get the GM stuff is it's a big deal, but I might be over-thinking it...
Any input is appreciated. Thanks.
