Should I use mobil 1 delvac 75w90 in my 2019 suburban 2wd rear diff? I already have a jug. The Delvac gear oil is meant for heavy duty applications. The suburban is only used for commuting as a family vehicle. No towing. Will the Delvac be to thick? Will it hurt anything?

The Delvac product line has no friction modifier for a limited slip differential. The more common Mobil-1 gear oil does have a friction modifier.

You can certainly use the Delvac product but you'll need to add the recommended friction modifier in order to keep the differential happy.

75w-90 is 75w-90. It's thin. It doesn't have the fm in it so if you get the tires to spin in mud you'd have issues but daily driving is no issue without the fm. The heavy duty thing is more marketing than anything.

You’ll be fine running the Delvac 75W-90. It’s still the correct viscosity and a quality oil, just be sure to add a friction modifier if your diff has the G80 locker. Otherwise, it won’t hurt a thing.

^^^ This - have run Delvac 1 in GM axles for years - no additional FM …
However - when they switched to the IRS (2021 on up) it does use FM - in fact with this oil - it took 3 small bottles of AC Delco FM in my 2022 Tahoe …
The HD is the many HD OEM approvals …
