I have almost 5 quarts of left over oil mixed in a container. My car takes 4.5 quarts and I always dump the other half quart into a container. Now it's almost full. It's all M1 with a mix of 5w30 and 10w30 and has been sitting there for a couple years now since I change every 6 months. Would it be ok to use this oil the next time with it being mixed and for how long it has been sitting there?

Use it. But in the future you should use the half quart left over for the very next oil change, or are you buying 5 qt jugs?

Many years ago, I worked at a Ford dealer. I collected the dribbles for every quart of oil I added to a car or used for a change. In about three months, I had enough to change the oil in my trusty old Maverick. That car went 70K miles that way (and it had 80K on when I got it!). A mix collected over a long period may not be idea for your "Numba One" car, but hey, a beater or a lawnmower would eat it up. If you have a diesel, add it to your diesel fuel. Have an "oil party" with the wife! Give it to a neighbor, but don't waste it!

My current "sloppy seconds" jug has 3 quarts of Rotella 15w40 and quart of MC 5w20 and a quart of Super Tech 5w30. Needless to say this will be my next oil for the Jeep next summer.
