Should I try something new?

My 05 Honda Accord 4 cyl. now has nearly 120,000 miles on it and I am wondering when the time has come to change to a high mileage oil, or something a little thicker than the recommended 5W20?

I currently have Mobil 1 5W20 in it and I find that it is a bit noisy.

Oil consumption is not bad - I usually do 5K OCI, and do not need ot add oil between oil changes.

I have Pennzoil Platinum 5W20 ready for the next oil change, but I am wondering if some experimenting might be in order. I also have Castrol GTX High Mileage 5W30, and Mobil Clean 5000 10W30 in my stash.

Should I try Castrol High Mileage?

In my guestimation oil pressure is good so you don't need the 10w30. Is valve lash check in the maintenance schedule for this model? Check the egr to intake manifold pipe for exhaust leak, and associated vacuum hoses while you're there.

I agree with jorton is it a maintenance issue??

Mobil 1 5w20 is a great oil it got you this far why switch.

is it leaking or burning oil?
