Just got back from off-roading and fishing in the eastern sierras w some friends. Had a great time. Buddy popped a tire (Falken wild peak) going down a trail w sharp rocks and other hazards. My truck was fine but when I got home (driving for 6 hours) I notice this little tear in my side wall. You think the tire needs to be replaced?

No. You could have a sidewall facing inwards that is damaged a lot more than that... you'd never know and it would never cause an issue.

No, had a worse one on the Caprice. Took it, they said it was fine drove in it 30,000 miles. You are good.

I'd say...it depends...is it a P or LT tire. LT tires have stronger sidewalls.

A year ago I would have said the same thing as others have posted, but after my incident in Atlanta, I might reconsider.

I wasn't off roading, but ran into a small concrete statue at my wife's sister's house in Atlanta...very narrow driveway. At that time the damage seemed superficial...only severely scuffing up the letter 'T' on the side wall (P tire). I didn't think much of it.

Well, that night while going home, I-75N, just outside of Atlanta at about 75MPH...BOOM! Granted, these are the cheap Cooper tires from Walmart...but still...
