Should I move to synthetic?

i second that..
for the Caravan thouugh, only go to syn if you know that the condition of seals are good. if they have false seals thru dino use, it WILL leak when you go syn. you can do an Arx treatment before going to syn, which in SOME cases have ensured a trouble-free switch to syn...for some people.

Plan on keepinmg both till they drop. Just finished Auto-Rx on both.

How would I know if the seals are good?

Thanks.

If you just finished ARX on both and have no leaks, then your seals should be fine. If you are not consuming or leaking any oil on either vehicle now while using dino oil, you should be fine using synthetic, esp. on the newer one. My question is, why do you want to use it? Engines will last long long time with good maintenance using regular, good quality dino oils at 3-5000 mile oil changes. If your plan is to extend your OCI significantly, then there may be some benefit to using synthetic oil and a premium oil filter.

It has been my experience that a synthetic will extend the useful life of the engine. If you want consumption lower as the engine ages then use synthetic. My cars go 250,000 plus and dino oil has been found lacking. My current car is at 150,000 with synthetic used since I purchased at 113,000. It burns zero oil over 8000 mile oil changes and I expect to keep it that way. It keeps the inside cleaner in both my cars which I have observed.
