Should I go synthetic, or not?

synthetics are mroe for extended oil change intervals. whe ni first used synthetic in my 95 neon, had 60,000 miles onit, my engine laked bad! had a new real main seal put it, and the oil eventually came out the vlave cover gaksets and leaked past my oil pressure snder, all of which still kinda leak, and are all new and have been re-seald by mechanic. synthetics only clean so much too. plus, theirs no real hard evidence, showing synthetic made an enigne last longer, than an engine on dino. jsut select a good brand dino, havlline, mobile, motorcraft, pennzoil, stay with your change intervals, usually every 3 months or 3,000 miles adn you should do fine

however! stay away from fram oil filters, their junk.

We have a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan with 3.3 liter engine. Bought it used with 55,000 miles in it. Been using Amsoil Series 2000 0w30 in it with Amsoil HDF 42 filters. Had Blackstone do a used oil analysis on a 14,000 mile OCI. UAO was fine. It's a family vehicle and my wife drives it back and forth to work daily, about 50 miles round trip. Just turned over 130,000 miles on the odometer. It's doing fine. No oil leaks. Although I am not unhappy with the Series 2000 in this vehicle, I may try the Series 3000 HDD in it after I run out of the Series 2000 0W-30. I switched to Series 3000 HDD in my Jeep Cherokee and am very pleased with it. Of course the final word will be the used oil analysis at 12,500 miles on the oil. Either way, nothing but synthetic and extended OCIs for me.

FWIW I switched to M1 at 80K miles in my Expedition. Have 130K miles now, still no leaks.

On my wife's Expedition, starting at 90k+ miles, I've gone from conventional to synthetic, to semi-synthetic, back to conventional, to high-mileage oil, back to full synthetic.......heck, it's been pretty much all over the map as far as oils go. No leaks at 122k miles. It does consume a little oil, though.
