from the posts I see here the Mobil 1 filter isn't. Even all that great should I be running something different for my z? Price doesn't matter I get mobils at the same price of pure ones. Does mobil filter perform better then pure one,wix,fram tough guard, knN. My next choices to use if mobils were [censored] was royal purple or fram xg

The Mobil 1 filters, while well-made, are a bit expensive.
For about 1/5th of the price (~$2.50), you can get the SuperTech filters, also made by Champion Labs, at Wal-Mart. I haven't seen much evidence that the Mobil 1 filters perform any better than OEM, PureOne, Wix, Tough Guard, or any other brand of filter.
If I were doing crazy-long OCIs, the Mobil 1 filter might be worthwhile, but for normal (e.g. 5,000mi) OCIs, the SuperTech is probably just fine.

bottom line is any filter you run with will give you good results.
If you have been using Mobil 1 filters with no problems I see no reason to change. I would just use the cheap filters from walmart or NAPA, but thats just me.

Use a top tier filter over a longer span. Paying more for a short use filter just doesn't work for me.
I forget how the M1 did in River Rats testing. He has actually contributed to what little data we have to make decisions on. Some of the cheaper filters looked about as good as the better ones.
Of course his testing was on initial flow and efficiency. Long term data? Forget it.

They are pretty darn good filters. Expensive, but they are on part with your K&N champ made filters. However, for less you can get a Purolator Pure One or a Bosch Premium that will filter just as well. However, the can on the Mobil filters does feel tougher, and if I recall in river rats' testing, the Mobil filters did flow a bit better.
they flow alot, for alot of money. you get what you pay for.
The flow well and filter good. K&N flows better and filters a little less. Depends on what you want. I use the Mobil's on both my cars.
I do not know what posts you are reading or what in those posts makes you think Mobil 1 filters are not good. I think they are very good and very well made. I have used them and have never had a problem with them.

Just saw couple post can't remeber from what thread but just negative feedback from these filters. I like them and will continue to use them just wanted to see your opinions

They are pricey, but running one means you have piece of mind.
I quite paying Walmart for the Full Synthetic changes ($60) and started doing my own. Redline and Mobil, all the way.

It won't filter worse when it gets dirtier. Plenty of media should hold it's good flow well compared to many others.

I judge it a very good filter. Too much $$ for you, I know. $10+ should be in use for a while as Gary said.

The Mobil 1 filters are a bargain if you can score them @ 7 per. I have 30 left. I also have an addiction....
