Should I change the oil?

i have a 1968 chrysler 300 with a 440 CI engine. I have only drove it 283 miles in the past year and getting it ready for winter storage.It was drove 3 times approx 75-100 each time.Should I change the oil/filter? Change the filter and replace qrt of oil? Do nothing?

If it was driven 100 miles each time, I wouldn't. That's more then enough mileage to burn off any excess fuel and moisture.

most will probably say change it out but I am going to go out on a limb and say leave it in, drive it like you always do before storing it.

iF YOU INDEAD DROVE IT AN HOUR OR SO SEVERAL TIMES, i WOULD NOT CHANGE THE OIL.

Do nothing. Ideally the oil should get up to operating temp and then allowed to cool on a warm day (if outside) or in a heated or warmer garage. This gets rid of water in oil.

Don't change it now, do it when the car comes out of storage. BTW, I loved the '68's, even rarer to see the 300 with a 440.

Prior to joining this site I would have been inclined to change the oil and filter. Now I would get 1 qt MMO take the car to the gas station dump the MMO along with some Stabil into the gas and fill the tank. Then I would take the car for at least a 30 minute drive to get it nice and hot, then put it away. Change the oil and filter in the spring.

Send a sample of oil in for testing to get the full story. Even send in a sample of virgin oil from what was used for a comparison. Maybe you should do some AutoRx to make sure the engine is clean. You're not driving some newer ez to replace car.

Sorry, I was thinking of the 66 Model. Most had the 383.

do what makes you feel better.

what oil is in there now? If amsoil or a more expensive syn i would leave it in. If dino , if want to chang it out, change it, but could leave it in there as well.

Me personally i would drive it on one last joy ride and go the distance you said in your first post, come back to town, go to gas station fill up and put stabil in it, drive it wherever it needs to be for storage and go on with life
