No problem. It sounds like you take great care of your vehicles, and you use top notch filters and good quality syn oil. I'm pretty confident that you can at least do 10k or more on mostly highway driving with your current set-up in that particular vehicle. All of the UOA's on my brother's car always look good with similar driving and maintenance. You should have the same good results.

Best of luck with whatever you choose to do.

Because some of us don't require an oil to "pay for itself". Repeat after me..........,My car is an asset; My oil is an expense.

There is a lot of truth in that point.

All oil is a slightly different tool, if you will, and you have to know how to use it right depending on the application/type of oil it is.

I don't really care what oil you use, for the most part, but I'm on here to learn and help steer people in the right direction with whatever they choose as their oil of choice.

Its Mobil 1 EP, if your not going at least 1 year or 10k in that engine your not using the right product.

If its what you got on sale i totally understand that but you would be more limited by your oil filter than your oil in this situation.

Since Dec 4th I have put 6000k miles on the car which has a fill of M1 5w30 EP. I have not added any oil and the oil is down a couple mm on the dipstick but still well above the low fill line so the engine barely consumes oil. So should I let it run to 10k miles or drain it and put in some M1 0w30 AFE? I probably will not send a sample off for UOA so just looking for some opinions.

lipadj46,

Regardless of your brand of oil wether dino or synthetic I'd stick to your schedule for the right time to do OCI's. I don' know if your oil filter is designed to go that far.

I have a K&N Filter on there now which is a pretty high flow filter so I am going to leave it on until 10k miles. I'm done with this job and moving on to the next one so my driving habits will change dramatically. I believe this is the most mileage I've put on a car in a 2 month period and that is why I put the EP in there so I can make it through the coldest part of the winter here.
