Hello and this got me thinking. What has been the shortest and or longest OCI you folks have ever done on any of your vehicles? I think the shortest I did was with Super Tech 5W20 for around 2950 miles when I first got my Honda. Longest yet is the Pennzoil Conventional 5w30 in my 98' Corolla as its at about 7598 miles on the oil.

Thank you all in advance,

Adam

I know that one time, the girl I was seeing; I did a oil change on her 98 Civic, 5spd with Quaker State Conventional 5w20 and she went all the way to 9k. Her mom flipped out on her, and when I changed it out, it was dark looking but not really bad I didnt think, and the girl still has the car and still uses QS in it.

Idled for 15 mins once during a flush.

100 miles or so during another flush OCI using M1

2,500-3k for the first 60,000 miles with my 07 Civic Si.

Longest was 10,300 miles with my 07 Civic EX using Amsoil's best. UOA looked good and I plan to go 12k this summer.

Before I joined this forum, I would have never guessed I'd be going 10,000 miles between oil changes. Even my 98 Camry V6 would get 3k OCIs with M1 synthetic each and every time. (It's an extreme short tripper though when not used for business trips and would sit for weeks at a time taking a year to rack up 3k)

Longest 11K in my Honda Accord using PP.

Shortest was 0 miles on my Boxster. The low coolant light came on one morning and in the dark I popped the trunk and poured coolant into the oil which is right beside the coolant spout. After about a 1/2 gallon I realized what I did and drove my truck to work. I later drained the oil and then poured 10 quarts of Super Tech in it and let it idle a little while to get the coolant out then I drained it. After that I replaced the filter, drained the Super Tech and then poured 10 quarts of Mobil 1 in it.

Ouch. I would have done several back to back flushed with a cheap oil.

Would have idled for like a min or so with the first flush (which is still contaminated with coolant) then like 15 mins with the second flush, changing the el cheapo oil filters each time.

Would have probably done a 3rd flush which I would have drop around for a few days on, just cause I'm anal like that.

My mileage is all highway, so the shortest I've done is 5000 miles over the winter, with Mobil 1 5w30. The longest I've gone is 7200 miles with Mobil 1 0w-30, it still looked fine when I drained it.

I know I could easily do 10k OCI's, but I have a mental block to doing that. Oil is cheap, engines are not. 6-7K OCI on Mobil 1 is perfectly fine with me.

Shortest was 1800 miles which was already on a used vehicle when I bought from dealer, I wanted Synthetic Oil.

Longest was 10,880 miles on Mobil 1 Extended Performance 10w30. The TBN was still 4.1.

0 mile OCI for my 2001 Cherokee with Super Tech 10w30(Engine flush) and many, like more than 10, under> 500 mile OCIs with same vehicle(Over compulsive Oil Changes), worried about threads on said vehicle Oil Filter housing. Oil Filters havent popped off yet. 23,??? mile OCI and counting for my 1984 Jeep Cherokees GM 2.8 Liter V6. Maby this coming year it will be changed...

Longest:
11,000 miles --> Wife's Volkswagen TDI on Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W40 (CJ4). No UOA but the TDI ran great on it.

Shortest:
432 miles --> My Forester on Mobil Super 5000 5W30 (SN). Couldn't stand the molasses thick feel until the engine got to temp. I honestly think it was a bad batch or something.

Thanks for the stories/replies everyone.

I was contemplating running some Super Tech 5W30 in the g.f. Civic to 6k

Shortest, I've done a few flushes on dirty engines I've had a part but even those were usually run 500mi or so...

Longest, my 49K mi, '98 Grand Marquis that's roughly 6200mi into a 10K OCI using Mobil 1 Extended Performance... Prior I used a syn blend and went 4500-5000mi...

Longest 9300 miles or so in my 97 Camry. After learning more about the sludge problem for that engine, I won't do that again. I'm working toward 10K ocis on my wife's 07 Camry.

Shortest was something less than 10 miles a few weeks ago when I had the oil plan replaced on the 97 Camry.

Molasses thick feel, no wonder my brothers car stopped burning oil every 400 miles when he used it..LOL!

Was doing 2K OCIs in the mid 60s with QS. Still sludged badly. Went to 3K with Valvoline and Royal Triton in the late 60s and early to mid 70s. In 1978 started using Mobil 1 5w20 with 10K OCIs have still do the 10K OCI to this day.
