Short OCI?

May be a dumb question. My truck is currently in the shop getting cam phasers replaced. (With the timing chain, guides, tensioners, water pump, etc.) When I get the truck back, would it be good to do a short OCI? Maybe 1,000-2,000 miles. Just thinking with the debris from the new metal parts that may be in there.
It's a 2019 F0150 with 105K on it.

That is a good idea. I change my oil after ONE day or TWO after the valve cover is off and/or some inner engine work is done. You don't know if the mechanic allowed/got some dust in there while he was at it.

I would not even go that long. Why not change the oil after a few hundred miles? Use a quality synthetic.

Debris ... Dust? That's all going to be caught by the oil pickup tube and oil filter in the first few seconds.

If your concerned about small stuff from break-in of the new phaser and chain, then I wouldn't wait 1K miles.

You could just let them change the oil and run it for a short OCI.

It is a fact that the oil filter does not trap all particle sizes. It can allow particles smaller than 20 microns to pass through, and we know these can accelerate engine wear rate. An early oil change can mitigate this.

I agree with that. But for me, if we're talking about something in the size of xx microns, we're not talking about dust and debris. That is probably wear metals.

Off topic, may be wasting my money. No matter what engine is in the vehicle, 3k is my max. I use quality oil and filters. The oil comes out NASTY every time. Engines run great though. 128k , 126k , 614k
