Bought Shell Rotella 15w-40 yesterday at Rural King. It is in a yellow bucket instead of the standard white you see everywhere else. Is this just a commercial bulk package instead of the retail type with the advertising on it you see at Walmart? I hope there is no difference in the oil.

In the early 2000’s when I bought my first diesel (96 F350 four door Powerstroke) I bought all my lubricants from a local OTR supplier. I bought oil, ATF buy large 2.5 and 5 gallon pails. I also used the OTR air filters. I ended up using their OTR transmission filters too. It was cheaper overall and they always had what I needed. I would be buying in 5 gallons if I were you since normally larger packaging equates to lower pricing for the same product.

That's Shell yellow! I've seen that before in commercial supply, but not in retail sales.
That's the bucket they have at Rural King. Price is good but it's not eligible for their rebate program. Rural King must buy the commercial packaging in large quantities so they can sell cheaper and Shell omits them from approved retailer for rebates.
