Has anyone seen this oil in quarts here in the USA ?

It's been available in drums for 2-3 years now but it's high time they place it in Walmarts IMO

And take a look at their 5w and 10w30 Synlube while your there

Where are they hiding this oil ? Are all the employees buying it up too ?

The Helix 5w40 MSDS is an Equilon dated '01. Notice there is no tech data sheet. It must've been superceded by Rotella T 5w40. I've heard RT came out sometime in '02.

I wonder if Wally's sold the Helix back then..

Leo,
I'm pretty sure that our Helix Ultra 5W-40 is a group III.

I had a shell catalogue showing it as XHVI, then the next edition was "fully synthetic", with the same pour point etc.

About this point, it was priced level with M1, but Shell dropped the price $10, possibly in recognition of the basestocks, and to stop some of the embarassment that had been doled to them.

And it's still the worst syn we tried on our Timken tester. There are better oils around for same or less $$. BP Visco 5000 5W40 for one (a great buy in 20-litre drum from any BP distributor) fwiw...s

Gene,
some reputable oil companies swear by timken and 4Ball type tests.

Haven't met many vehicles that hover on 4 balls

Vi @ 40c 76.3
Vi @ 100c 13.8
Pretty groovy that a 40wt is built like that @ 40c

I wonder if the new Quaker State Euro Car 5w30 will be built similar to the Helix Ultra ? It's about 5 bucks a quart .

I've heard that it's a XHVI / PAO mix. Not sure if that's correct though.
