I've been thinking that after changing the hydraulic lifters in my 1988 Escort which will hopefully make it nice and quiet i've been thinking it could use some full syn to do some cleaning.
I've found that i could get Shell Helix HX8 5W-40 for a pretty reasonable price locally.
The factory spec for this engine is simply 10W-40 API SF.
These Ford CVH engines are prone to cam lobe wear as the valve springs are very stiff already from the factory, it seems to have around 1100ppm of Zinc from a UOA i found over at oil-club.ru which is good.
Anybody know how it compares to Helix Ultra 5W-40 in terms of base stocks, HTHS, Saps content??
