On our vw. Really shallow, I just see it.

What should I use to hide this? Toothpaste? Some scratch fixer for paint? Cleaner wax?

Thanks!

should come right out with little work

Meguiar's PlastX should take care of it. Go perpendicular to the scratch.

Otherwise you can buy a Novus plastic polish kit on Amazon -- it has 3 compounds of increasing harshness.

I'm having trouble telling the scratch from reflections of ? power lines? in the photo.

You have nothing to lose by trying to buff it.

It should be easily buffable. Use any compound you already have, if not get a plastic polish or headlight repair kit.

For taillights I've always liked how well a finish on tailights Meguiars SMAT polishes leave behind. M105 or Ultimate compound is something people should have in their detailing kit anyways so it works better than Meguiar's dedicated plastic polishes which don't use the more advanced abrasives.

I wouldn't use a headlight repair kit. The sandpaper will remove the clear.

I would try a 4" suburb or wool pad with FG400 or M105 and see if it will come out. Even M105 by hand may be worth a shot.

I just tried a new to me product on headlight's plastic and it works great...

Sumner Labs plus 210 Plastic Scratch Remover and 201 Plastic cleanser and polish

Meguiar's PLASTX and a terrycloth towel with some elbow grease. It may take several applications. There's no need to get fancy.
