Completely agree. We've seen some "weird" brands in the past that have an actual API license despite the unknown name.

If this were used drain oil the color should be way off and some additives should be present in the oil, besides the negligible amount of zinc & phos that show up in the sample. I wonder who would possibly buy this stuff.
The PPE brand of N95 masks they carry (Dasheng) have been flagged as counterfeit by the CDC/NIOSH.
I've noticed that a lot of these sketchy motor oils seem to originate in and around the Chicago/Cook County, Illinois area....
The API is rather diligent about going after those brands that misapply their marks and symbols.
I suspect Chinese involvement.
A quick search for the OEM comes up with something from the API license directory... where their license was withdrawn.
They also have a 5w20 that's just as awful

Most of the negative reviews I've seen on motor oil tend to be from um let's just say people that aren't the brightest bulb in the box, that somehow think that a high mileage oil is going to magically un-rot their valve stem seals.They’re probably receiving hate mail as we speak.
Have you ever looked at motor oil reviews on Walmart.com or Amazon? Some of them are hilarious to read because you can tell that it’s some of the members here writing them.
That or from people with calibrated ears that can tell the difference in performance by “listening” to what the engine tells them...

I think the expectations of some of the members here might be excessive; what additives would you expect a non-commissioned officer's urine to have?
