Settling as filtration prep a long drain interval

I admire the thought of trying to get more life out of the oil by filtering it outside the engine. Its kind of like the Brita water filter that might work for oil. It makes pure water.

No, they are not necessarily attached. However, many here will advise to shake bottles and jugs of new oil just before useing them, due to solids, presumably additives, accumulating at the bottom of the jugs over time.

Your decantation will likely remove additives along with the contaminates, and since the oil is partially depleated already, thats not helping at all.

I think the difference with my method and the never change is the dirty accumulation. And never change isn't 10k miles, or is it? Because I do change at 10k, don't keep settling forever. Do you guys do Long drains straight away or not? I'm not finding much used oil analysis with more than 10k miles in Bitog or wherever. Just a few rare ones here and there, that don't show trend for big part of lifetime of an engine.
