Agreed! I've never heard of a belt snapping, but I do hear of worn belts slipping (squealing), but many times that ends up being a worn-out tensioner as well. Not saying they won't snap, for sure, but they seem to go MANY miles before wearing out. I've never had one fail by breaking, but I have replaced ones that had lost too much material to be serviceable.
That free Dayco tool is worth getting.
Push it to 100k, and then try to do it yourself. You'll save some coin and learn something good a long the way, if you haven't done this before.
