Why is the Sequence IVA and IVB test performed at a lower temperature and not at a higher temperature?

Those tests are specifically meant to look at the oil's performance during cold start and warm up when the oil temperature is below the activation temperature for most additives, especially anti-wear and detergent additives. The IVB test is short duration in bursts kept at low temperature and repeated 24,000 times in 200 hours.
