Selling Burial Plots

There’s a country cemetery amongst the trees nearby. They are still selling plots and have a new section strictly for burying cremated remains. It’s very low maintenance with natural underbrush.

It depends on the contract when you bought the plots.

Owning a cemetery plot is not like owning a piece of land. All the land legally belongs to the cemetery association. What you own is a license to bury a deceased person at a designated spot on their land.

Whether and how you can transfer that license is laid out in the contract you signed.

I got a new phone number and an email.. I'll ask them tomorrow

I was visiting a relative in Bermuda. The entire island is about 25 square miles and space is at a premium. There are some old churches with graveyards. The land has a lot of limestone so some of the graves are more like crypts and not backfilled with dirt. There would be a stone or concrete top. There is a yearly fee to be paid to the Chuch. If the fees are not paid, after a number of years, and depending with your standing with the Church, out come the bones and the grave is rented to someone else.

I listed my plots in the marketplace section of a local forum that I frequent . There were so many corny jokes that the mods had to step in and do some serious editing .People thought it was ok to step all over my listing just because they thought the subject matter was funny .

Speaking of funny, the opening scene of a movie I saw years ago had a group of grieving people around the grave site and they were lowering coffin. Just as it hit bottom, a cell phone rang from within the coffin.

Nobody wants these things anymore. They are a waste of space to begin with.
I worked in so many houses people purchased and the previous owner just left cremated remains behind in a closet or on a mantel...not cool

Cheapness and the easy way out is the new norm....

I called them today
I can sell them or they can for a small fee- donation and I was told they have about doubled in value as I have the only two plots up on the hill that are left.

I'll just let them deal with it.. they made it easy...
