Seeing more VW Micro Busses

And yet, they make Atlas here. Instead of the Passat, which they killed anyway, they could push the Amarok.
But it is a never-ending mystery, called VW.
The Atlas is pretty popular, though. I see way more Atlases (Atlasi?) than I see Passats.

The bus is almost dead right out of the gate. I dont know what they were thinking but then again, that thinking was in a lot of BEVs plans that never happened. The price is outrageous... it's such a crowed field of expensive offerings. VW only sold about 1/5th of what they are able to produce.
Also just shut down the plant for a few days. (just for the record I REALLY like the look but at that price, no, EV prices are insane)

"The Buzz Is Gone As VW Quietly Halts Production"

Stopped prodction, eh?

$70K is pretty dear, and with it, people expect a lot of capability.

While the ID.Buzz looks cool and nostalgic, I'm sure most with $70K to spend, who compare with a Tahoe LT 4WD with max trailering and comfort package for $69,283, are probably going to go that direction. Found one on a dealer lot near me like that with 18" wheels like I would prefer over the 20s for this exact price, black on black.

Add to this fact that, VW does dumb things that alienate EV fans like not having one pedal driving.

I'm not surprised they haven't sold many. I'd probably take a used Model X or Rivian R1S 10 times out of 10 over the ID.Buzz.

I walked out my front door starting my day and seen one pass in front, Had flowers on the side and I will say that thing put a BIG smile on my face!
When is the last time a car passing my house made me smile?
Well I seen a old one pass the house too and it made me smile. I wonder, will we see these EV Busses still be on the road in 50 years like the old VW buss that passed my house?

Here's another from this morning. FYI, there are 3 EVs in this shot. Tells ya a lot about gas prices around here. What's a poor boy to do?

The arteon was pretty cool looking too , priced too high , failed to sell well in the states , same will happen with the bus
The Arteon got the much needed dct the last year.of production. It was a great car that should have had awd standard from the start and vw should have marketed it better.

It is called “VW North American strategy.” And no one knows what that is, including VW.
I worked at a VW dealership and gave corporate honchos feedback from customers one day while they were visiting. The biggest and most consistent request was to build the Amarok in Chattanooga (to bypass the chicken tax,) as I had numerous customers who would have bought one. VW also screwed up by dropping awd from the passat and building the USA a bland underpowered fwd sedan when EVERYONE else was now offering awd throughout their lineup. The incompetence amazes me.

Audi is big problem. Where is line before you start taking customers from Audi?
Passat B5 success made VW skittish about pushing VW more aggressively.

Amarok is a completely different platform than MQB. Transitioning from original Passat to Atlas production in Chattanooga was rather tame.

Transitioning to body on frame would require a functionally different production line.

I am sure was much of the reasoning.

I wonder if they could have went the Honda Ridgeline route as it's a unibody. Maybe built a usa truck for our market? With my brief sales and lot guy for VW. the customers were fanatics. Many were multi-generation VW owners. Their parents had vw's, they drove vw's, their kid wasn't going to drive anything but a vw.
