Seeing more VW Micro Busses

I really like the blue one. The white top would mitigate the heat also.

The return of a great vehicle. Different drivetrain, but same in so many ways. People loved them in the old days. Let's see what happens with these.View attachment 301805
Saw one just like this driving through Columbus on I-71 Monday.
First I'd seen on the road.
Really cool look, unlike most EVs.
Agree that were this offered with an ICE alternative available they'd sell very well.
Loved my Vanagon.
VW vans have always been and always will be very hip.

I saw my first in Amsterdam last year. I've seen 1 or 2 around town. 1 is orange and white. Not bad looking at all. They definitely blew it making it EV only and only affordable by the most successful ex hippies. Give us stripped down and underpowered gas model for $30k

Regardless of what its powered by, pricing is definitely a problem. My wife was interested until she saw what the range was for the price. We bought another Tesla Model Y for the added space over the Model 3 instead. I thought the ID.Buzz would have been a cool attention grabber for her animal rescue work.

Cheers to your wife. That's a great job. I thought our dog would love the van too. But a Husky in a $60k+ vehicle would not be relaxing.

That is awesome.
She loves it. I help when I can, though its not much working for the railroad. We usually have 6 foster cats in our home at a time. It's a network of local people that work together to house cats and dogs until they get adopted. We do get donations from major pet suppliers for food and litter at times and we've used both our Teslas at the same time to move product. She handles all the adoption events where she drives the animals around which is why I got her the new Y. The hatch is a massive improvement for fitting kennels.

Seen one a couple months ago. Pretty neat. There are some hardcore VW van fans that'll scoop them up I'm sure.

VW and their North American strategy. One of the greatest mysteries in the world.

Not so much if one recognizes that part of it is to have a shotgun aimed at a foot at all times, ready for discharge.

Worse, it serves not only to give the casual shopper an easy choice between "take it or leave it," but also to alienate those who do actually want a VW, by serving up the seconds and leftovers while the rest of the world gets the freshest stuff.

My dad had one of those in the 70s and he took us on many camping trips with it across the USA. When I started working the summer after high school he gave it to me to use. It was weak, low horsepower but real fun to drive. It had a long floor stick shift but I can not recall if it was a 3 or a 4 speed. When I would approach a tall bridge I had to cross I would mash the pedal to the floor, by the time I got close to the top it was straining! I really got a kick out of that van.

I predict a short life for that product, too expensive and limited market. Same for VWs trying to reprise the International Scout. They're clueless about some things.
About the old school VW vans, one of the best conversions was one sold by Crown manufacturing in the late 60s. It allowed you to swap a Corvair flat six into a bus or beetle. So you went from a 1.6 liter at most with 60 hp to a 3.0 liter with more than double the HP. Really made sense, from the point of view of using the bus to actually move cargo.
