I have a chance to get a craftsman lawnmower with the honda engine and self propelled for $200.Are these mowers any good or should I buy something else.I have a 200 hundred gift card i need to use and the Lawn boy is so done after many years of service.

They are made by husqvarna and are good mowers, don't be afraid to get it, plus Honda makes pretty good engines.

To be honest? No I wouldn't. The Honda would be good for fuel efficiency because it is an OHV. A Briggs OHV would be ideal. But I love briggs flatheads, because of just how durable they are (As shown by my killing briggs thread). But there is absolutely nothing wrong with the honda engines, they are quite good.

I had a hassle with the first riding mower I bought from them, they did however make it right and after 138 hours it's going strong.IMO once you get into small engines with some horsepower you are splitting hairs so to speak. Is the Honda made in Japan or China?Could be a "Chonda"(Honda engine licensed to be mfg in China)even @ that it's probly pretty good.

Well, that's not exactly true. Some are, but not all by a good margin.

I often wonder if anything is made in USA even if it says made in USA.I hit a deer back in 1992 with a 1991 Pontiac firebird. When we went to replace the front nose cone it was stamped "made in Mexico".I've heard Harley's have tale lights they say made in Finland. So go figure.

The Honda engines are made in North Carolina. They make over 1.5 million small air-cooled engines per year there.

For the price, as good as anything else. The 160 Honda engine is the Walmart of Honda engines, but is not a bad motor. It's the only one of the Honda line I wouldn't heartily endorse because, for some reason, it's just not a good as the other Hondas. (It's cheaper though).

It really is cheap enough. You can buy one complete for $160 to $190 at several small engine replacement companies.

I have one on a Craftsman mower that I purchased back in 2000. I have an hour meter on it, and it is almost at 520 hours right now. I use it year round, cleaning up leaves in the winter. Engine has never used any oil in a one year, 55 to 60 hour OCI. It is on its second spark plug, and gets a new air filter yearly. It started on the first pull yesterday. It has never required any service other than oil changes, new filters, and that one plug change.

Like a bunch of monkeys trying to &*^) a football. Sears small engine mechanics are my favorite! Over priced and under trained.
