Sears has more chinese made tools than..

I just did a tool purchase from Sears that was (I think) an 8-piece tool set for $9. I walked into the store first to make sure that the tools were American-made. I won't be buying anymore that I know are Chinese manufactured. It's sad.

I was in Sears for the first time in about 10 years, and I was amazed at the amount of U.S. made stuff there, from simple pry bars to ratchets. I picked up a set of T-handle nut drivers, since the sizes I use have walked away from my race tool box. They looked like re-badged Armstrongs, Hecho en USA and they were a good deal.

It's entirely possible it has nothing but really old stock, since there were more employees than customers in the place, and I certainly won't count on the "lifetime warranty" thing, as the place just reeks of that "going out of business" smell, but I saw a lot of U.S. made stuff in the tool section. I also don't think you can blame Sears for Irwin's stuff being made in China...

Maybe not, but if Sears can save a couple pennies by moving something overseas themselves, they will.

Fair enough. I was unfamiliar with that whole deal, but it's enough for to not give my money to Sears; but again, blaming them for Rubbermaid's decision to make Irwin stuff in China is a stretch. Let's blame them for the bad stuff they actually do!

I hope the guy who came up with the funny wrench gets his settlement money before Sears goes belly-up, because he's gonna win his lawsuit. What Sears is passing off as "prior art" is downright laughable.

Agreed. The mass purchase of Chinese goods is what spurs this, not some businessman, politician or anyone else. It is you and I, making purchase decisions that drive this stuff offshore.
