Scratch on my New (to me) Car

I just bought a 2013 Lincoln MKX. Not one mark on it, until today. The scratch is very long but not really deep. It did
not take off the clearcoat. Help me fix it please?

The scratch may be superficial, IDK.
I've polished out light scratches with toothpaste. You may be able to do it yourself.
Can you show a picture?
However, depending on the depth of the scratch and if there wasn't a scratch on it when you bought it, you may just want to have it professionally buffed out. Otherwise it may look like you fixed it yourself.

Chris Fixx on YouTube has some good scratch repair videos. He purchased a vandalized car at auction and repaired a car that was keyed. You couldn’t tell it was damaged afterwards. Plus it was done in his driveway using common or cheap products. I want to say something like $50 he spent on products.

If it's not noticeable, I would leave just like that. Most of the time it disappears in several years when you clean, wax & buff you car. Also the weather factor will cause it to disappear over time blending to the paint. You'll only see it if you are going to take a close look to it, that if you still remember it's still there. Do not use any touch up paint, the more it becomes noticeable.

Meguiars Ultimate Compound and a microfiber applicator pad (assuming you don't have any paint correction supplies, as a random orbital & cutting pad would make quick work of this job). Follow up with wax.

Keep in mind that removing the scratch means that you are removing some clear coat. Always start with the least abrasive product to see if you can make it's appearance acceptable.

A picture would certainly help determine what type of scratch you are describing, i.e., an indentation type scratch of the clear coat or just a deposit on top of the clear coat.

Years ago, I would use Meguiar's Cleaner Wax to gently remove very minor blemishes.
