I consider all bulk produced bread to be very fake and nasty tasting so I never buy it. However schwebel's had d'italiano bread, and some other specialty breads that were always in stock when you needed it, and we're quite tasty. What a shame yet another old company is closing along with the workers loosing their jobs. Although not amazing products, still leaps and bound better than any other bulk produced garbage. Wonder bread is similar to air fluff cardboard.

On that topic, we eat less and less bread in our house and are slowly trying to eat less-processed stuff. I put a half-used loaf of bread (Sunbeam, typical mass-produced white bread) in a cupboard and recently noticed it. Checked it and it's still good (smells perfect, no mold, etc), then looked when we bought it. Found it in our Kroger app, bought on May 14 !! 65 days old as of today. We're keeping it now and running an experiment to see how long it lasts !

Never heard of them. Regional?9
Yes youngstown ohio.

They closed their plant in akron ohio in 2019.. used to smell amazing driving by on Route 8

They also made most of the giant eagle labeled breads..(in the bread aisle not the bakery)

I heard Bimbo is picking up the majority, and there will be nickels bakery back in the GE's too (possibly)

It might have something to do with Kroger's buying Giant Eagle.
My GE bakes its own bakery bread and buns and I'm afraid that will go away with the Kroger take over.

Yes all of the mass produced breads have heavy preservatives.. It does not go bad. My vet advised to never give bread scraps to dogs due to the fake preservatives.
