Scheaffers vs Amsoil for Mileage

That would be an interesting study.
We frequently gain 2-4% fuel economy gain with our 15-40 Schaeffer's Supreme Blend in Semi's.
I'll bet Amsoil does as well.

my full message didn't show up

I am asing if Amsoil series 3000 5w30 will give my wife's tundra more MPGs. I went with the scheaffer's blend 5w30 for warranty reasons but if amsoil will give it better mileage, then I'll forget about the warranty and use amsoil

what do you think?

I think it would be very difficult to measure a clear-cut winner for mpg between Schaeffers and amsoil.

I have used synthetic, semi-syn and dino oils in my 01 PSD. The only difference is in cost of the oil and low starting temp. The semi-syn (Schaeffers) and a 50/50 mix Delvac 1300S/Delvac 1,the Synthetic Amsoil all started about the same. On dino, it had problems. I have never noticed a real world difference on fuel mileage. My high was 21.3 mpg on Schaeffers and 21.7 mpg on Delvac 1300/Delvac 1 (mixed 50/50 in a 15 quart capacity engine). So back to Schaeffers on the next change. I cannot justify the cost of full synthetic in this vehicle. Plus I am still under engine warranty, so an API rated oil is a must for me. I did run Amsoil 5W30 HDD for 8K and it was an absolute waste of money. The engine hated it. Very noisy and no mileage gain.

on mt 95 psd i definitly can tell a difference btwn snthetic and dino. I have 4.10 gears and a 5 spd. If I drive it right I can get 18-20 mpg, granted that's not going faster than 60-65. Yes I do calculate it correctly (i work on diesels for a living)

synthetic adds about 1 mpg and I use amsoil's synthetic blend 15w40 and so far at 7000 it was fine, and that was during New England's harshest winter in along time. I'm going to try to get 10k out of it in the future.

The new Schaeffers SM 5w-30 is depending on temps you are driving in is very compairable, however in sever cold Amsoil may do better,,also driving habits, engine condition play a part in this,,both are very good lubricants for engines,,,the new 9000 Schaeffers is worth a look in all weather conditions,,,,,,,,BL
