(I put the text below in my M1 OCI post, but thought it's worthy of it's own thread - perhaps someone can verify this. Slightly editing the text from the other post.)
The Schaeffers rep I spoke to today said Schaeffers will soon be relabelling their "Synthetic blend" as "Synthetic Plus". He was flying thru the chemistry and labelling issues talk, but if I followed him correctly - it's that the conventional in the 7000 series is (or will be) a grp III - thus 7000 is a blend of two synthetics - the grp III and the PAO. He stated that the dino processing reaches 2000 degrees - I didn't think grp III required this temperature level - perhaps this is a "severly processed" grp III (a grp III+ as I've heard it called in a technical write-up). So perhaps Scheaffers is one of the first to use the grp III+ and thus why they're giving it this name (I'm wondering out loud here - wish I would've thought to ask on the fly today).
