Anyone use this oil - or any of their products - in their gas vehicles on a regular basis? I did a quick search of BITOG and there really isn't a lot of info on this brand in cars. I just picked up a case of their Full Synthetic 9000 5w30 as I will be changing out oil in my two Nissans today. Current fill in both is Liqu-Moly.

I have read a bit of info on Schaeffer in diesel engines as well as fleet and heavy machine operation but not a lot in the passenger car arena. They are in St.Louis and one of the oldest blenders in the country. No, you cant go to Walmart and buy it but Amazon Prime will bring it to your door in two days. Seems like a solid product line from a "Made In America company."

They also offer fuel treatment Neutra and SoyUltra that look interesting as well as trans and diff fluids.

Wasn't BITOG founder Bob a Schaeffer rep? TIA for your input.
 
It's a good product, much more well known in the commercial heavy duty world than the passenger car world.

Their oils have a lot of moly, which many love.

BITOG member TiredTrucker is a big fan/user of Schaffers. If you're getting a good buy on it I would say it is just as good as anything else.
 
They are more industrial/commercial lubricants. That said I've used their Syn Blend 5w30, 700 series, Penetro(sic?) penetrating/lubrication spay and 80W-90 gear oil for my front diff of my F-150. The oil was used in my wife's 2002 Explorer and my 1996 Contour. It was a good oil when other oils at the time were not what they are today. Ironically at the time it was less expensive shipped to my door than Mobil 1 was bought at a store. For a while it was the "darling" oil on here. I would not go out of my way to purchase it today. There are many fine oils I can purchase locally at good prices at Walmart or with oil change specials at auto part stores. That said if the price is right with the ease of getting it I'd use it as it is a quality oil.

Available over Amazon.com for about $8/qt if u buy 12. Free shipping. It appears you can trust this company to blend what they say they blend.

You beat me to it on TiredTrucker.... he uses Schaeffer's in everything he owns. I've considered using it also it is good stuff.

I have been using Schaeffer in my personal vehicles and commercial vehicles for several years. Those $8 a quart internet pricing gigs are a little steep, but work for some folks. Current price on the pricing sheet handed me by my Schaeffer rep a couple of weeks ago for 9003D 5w30 synthetic is $72.96 a case for 12 quarts. Just over $6 a quart. I generally have oil, lube, and grease orders that are over $1000 at a time, so everything gets shipped free to me and they throw in free oil sample kits and analysis on top of that. From Schaeffer, any order over $375 is free shipping. More than most typical user is going to order, but then as has been stated, Schaeffer's primary market is commercial users. Most of those folks are buying drums of oil, and have maybe a case or two of quarts for their personal vehicles thrown in the order. I am extremely fond of their grease! I have far fewer problems with u joints, air brake camshaft bushings, kingpin bushings, etc since I have been using it.

That 9003D 5w30 synthetic has a whopping amount of moly in it... about 308 ppm. Overall a very good add pack. Even a nice dose of antimony in it that I haven't seen in any other off the shelf oil. Not the lowest NOACK of the full synthetics, but not bad. Well within the dexos1 standard it claims to meet. My last two Chevy pickups have done well on it. I even use this stuff in my Yamaha portable generator and my John Deere zero turn mower. Gonna be a tough sell to convince either of them that it is a bad oil to use in those. My Schaeffer rep does the same thing.

Can you tell what distance you go per OCI on your gas vehicles? Any used oil analysis to share?

I've run this in several vehicles, and 707 is in my 2014 Harley Wide Glide. I really like the way the engines run, and the Harley is very quiet with it in the sump. That being said, Mobil 1 Extended Performance is in both of my vehicles because I can't justify the cost of Schaeffers.
 
Isn't it wonderful having a lot of great choices for oil! While I do use a lot of Schaeffer stuff, I also use other brands in various components/applications. This is a great time to live when it comes to the plethora of good lube products readily available.

As for UOA and OCI interval on the Schaeffer in my personal stuff, I just run about 6000 miles and change. I don't really pay much attention to the OLM in the pickups except at a curiosity. It doesn't take into account the dusty gravel roads the pickup is on every time it leaves the driveway and other little factors. Don't have any used oil analysis I have kept on the personal side, but a lot of used oil analysis on my commercial stuff. Those are all on HDEO oils. My commercial stuff is usually a 400-500 hr oil change interval, and my small engine use is primarily on a 100 hr or annual change regimen. I have just never gotten into the mindset of trying to take oil changes out to some jaw dropping distance.

Yeah, the cost of Schaeffer can be beat at the retail level by many other good oils. It has a good cost benefit ratio for me because of the commercial use, commercial pricing, and free shipping.
 
Yes, bob was a schaeffers rep. Schaeffers structure is a little different today, while the quality stands the test of time year after year.
 
Most may run out to 10,000 miles, but most don't run dusty gravel roads and off road farm country like I do. 6000 miles is my comfort zone. Not like having to take out a second mortgage to change 6 qts of oil and a filter.
 
This may be a silly question....but after looking at the Schaeffer website I couldn't tell if the Supreme 9000 Full Synthetic oil had an API donut on it. Does it have the certification, or does it just have the "meets or exceeds" claim?
 
I installed the oil Saturday. I plan on running a 10,000 mile OCI. It will take me the better part of a year to commute that many miles. I'll post up the Blackstone results when I get them.

I don't understand what that means. My guess is that it "meets or exceeds" instead of "API Certified"...again I have no idea. Just my general observation. I know it doesn't amount to a hill of beans as far as it working and being a good oil. Can't wait to hear back on your results!
