Currently, on my Windows 7 Professional desktop computer, I use the "Microsoft Office Document Scanning" utility that is part of Office Professional 2007. I want to upgrade to Office Professional 2010, but it does not contain that utility and I don't have any other scanning software. Can someone recommend something that is pretty good and free? My scanning needs are pretty basic.

My scanner is an HP PSC 1410 All-In-One device. One option might be to install the full suite of software that came with it, versus a basic install with just the driver like I have now. But those packages are usually pretty bloated and come with all kinds of garbage that I don't need/want.

Tried that. And while I haven't spent a lot of time with it, I haven't figured out how to do two things:

1) Scan multiple pages into a single file.

2) Print to PDF in the desired orientation. I use Bullzip PDF Printer and everything comes out sideways.

Not sure about 1), I know scanners I have only scan and save 1 page at a time, and then if I want them all in 1 file, i'll insert them into a document, or make a pdf. So on to the pdf, I don't use bullzip, but it looks like from the use guide, in the settings you can set the orientation. http://www.bullzip.com/products/pdf/doc/info.php
