Scan Tool

Hey folks,
Im looking in getting a VAG 1551 (special tool used for VW) scan tool for our Jetta to measure the ATF temp...if course to use it for other things as well. I was wondering if i can use the same tool for other vehicles? I hate to spent 300.00 for a scanner just for the Jetta.

VAG 1551 is obsolete and you wont get a whole lot of use on anything else.
Try a laptop based solution instead.

If you are only doing VW/Audi the ross-tech is cheaper,the autoenginuity is a more versatile tool but requires an expansion for non generic OBDII data.
