I bought my first car. A 2008 Nissan Pathfinder with 148k back in 2018. Got me through junior and senior year, and around town and some highway trips without much issues. Over the 4 years I did various oil changes, replaced O2 sensors, front brakes, front and rear shocks, and work I couldn’t do went to a local repair shop. I washed and waxed and kept it looking good. I eventually gave it to my mom and she used it as her cleaning vehicle. I bought a 2013 Tacoma and my mom got a Buick Encore recently and we decided to sell it. Today was the last day. I’ll miss it. Random I know, but if you have any stories about your first car experiences let me know. 🙂

My first real car, also a Nissan, went 240k miles before losing an argument with a cow.

It was like two cars and the money I saved became the down payment on my first house.

I've never sold a car, I always run them till they cant go no more, then get sad when they get scrapped...
The only car I wasnt sad about was a '95 I think Lincoln, got it for my son to use while he engine swapped his Jeep,
such a pile that car was, I asked if I could watch it get crushed..heh

Don’t think I could ever let go of my first car which is my truck my 1989 Mazda B2200. I drove it regularly till I graduated in 2020 and bought a Ford Escape from my aunt for $800 because the sunroof leaked. I drive it rarely now. I hate putting miles on it because I know it will hold value with less miles lol. Plus for todays time it’s very slow taking off and you practically get run over. It’s a 5 speed rear wheel drive. Produces a whopping 85HP lol. But I’d definitely rather have a Tacoma over any Nissan though lol. Not huge on Nissan but if it was my first vehicle it would be a keeper. I’d keep it even if I had to park it in a field and let the weeds take it over lol. I don’t get rid of vehicles but especially not first ones. Manual or automatic for your Tacoma? I sure do hate changing the oil in them things lol.

The Tacoma is an auto. I’ve always liked changing the oil on it. Has to be the easiest oil filter location (1GR FE) to get to. I place a small container under it to collect the oil.

Oh ok I wasn’t sure if these had that stupid cartridge filter on it or not. This is still the old design then with the spin on up top. Those I don’t mind it’s the others I don’t like.

My first car probably wasn't safe; the list of major issues with it was long and varied. My life expectancy probably went way up when that car finally died.

Just one example: It had been my Grandma's car... I'd already been driving it for a couple years before she volunteered the helpful tidbit that she always drove it with at least one window open, because it always made her lightheaded and drowsy if she didn't. I wonder how many brain cells I killed driving that thing!

My first car was dad‘s 78 D100 stepside which I foolishly wrecked only 6 months of driving it. So, my real first car was an 86 Plymouth Duster.
I cried when I saw it drive away after selling it. We had a lot of fun together. I painted it, put on new doors, wheels, etc to make it nice. Hard to do to an L-body Dodge.
I saw it here or there, then moved away. Dad saw it in the junk yard a few years later.

Years later, I find it a lot easier to let go of cars. The first few were hard, but time helps. Dad sold his Cuda after 40 years of ownership as the original owner. I have friends who change cars annually due to boredom.

My first car was a 1972 Ford LTD four door. I bought it my senior year in High School and took it to college with me. I drove it for two years and then bought my 1970 Monte Carlo which I still own today. I'm never selling it. The LTD sat in the student parking lot for two years until I graduated college and then I ended up selling it.
