Saturn Astra 4SP A/T sticker price $1325

Doesn't that seem really high for a 4 SP? Their 5 SP A/T on the Sky is only a $950 option.
This seems out of line with other 4 speed A/T from other manufacturers unless their base M/T is really cheap to produce.

Since it's only $925 in a Cobalt, yep that's too high.

Agreed, but I would only get that car with a manual trans anyway!

Perhaps they have priced the 5sp artificially low to advertise some price, not intending to sell very many cars so equipped.

So they lose more money on a manual so they can put an ad in the car magazines that says the Astra is $14995 (or whatever it is, just throwing a number out there.)

But they don't make very many, as most of them are the automatics and are over $16K (using my contrived example)

That's just speculation, it's worth very little, if anything.

Back in the day they sold stripper SLs with 5 speeds only; to get an automatic one had to step up to an SL1 (larger base price) before one could check off that option.

The [censored] with that, put a 2 liter forged Ecotec turbo and an X trac AWD system in it and go WRC racing, Evo/STI hunting!!

The 1.6 turbo put out more hp than the 1.8 we are getting stuck with. Think it is like 180 for the 1.6 versus the 140 of the 1.8
