Has anyone had any experience with Sangsin brake pads? I know that they are a Korean OEM, but I've never really heard of them, and did not know that their products are available in the aftermarket.

Anyone know anything?

I agree. Korean quality is much better then it was 10-15 years ago. Look at HDTV, Samsung is one of the best, if not the best, for several years now. Hankook tire is unknown 3-4 years ago, the Optimo H727 is one of the best passenger all-season at a good price.

If no made in USA is available, then made in Korea is a much better choice than China.

Honestly, just from seeing their website, I wouldn't buy. Seems like it was translated from a free online translator. I would say there are much better choices out there.

Korean products are good. They are good as, if not better, than Japanese and American products. As for Sangsin, I have never heard of them before.

Here's their cheesy company video. Skip to 0:54 into the video to skip the cheesy beginning:

"Noble and elegant brake feeling"--quote from the website.

Only blue blood pads for me!

Is that just with brake pads? What about consumer electronics?

Just looking since from what I can gather, they are OEM on Hyudai, Kia, Daewoo, etc...

Ok, so I have this set of Sangsin premium brake pads in my hand. I know the non-US stuff is getting some heat, but I have to say that at least from a packaging standpoint, these things are awesome. The top lifts off the botom, there is a foam insert in the box to keep the pads in place, and it looks great. The pads also visually look to be high quality. Who knows for sure until they actually used and tested, but they at least look to be good. This company makes OEM pads for Korean automakers, as well as some other brands so it is not like they some chinese aftermaket reboxed parts.

Anyway, I have pictures of this stuff, but of course it is such a project to upload to photobucket, repost , etc. Wish there was an easier way. If I get some motivation I'll put them up.

Well, it may be OEM in Korea, but for which vehicle?

The Hyundai Excel tainted the name of Korean cars for years. The Kia Sephia wasn't much better.

Well I hope you've figured out by now that I would not have any idea what came on any of those nor would I care.

If I could find any consumer electronics manufactured here, I would buy them. I haven't seen any in years. Let's try to keep the automotive industry from going the same route! I do buy Americam tools and they are getting more and more scarce.

I know what you mean. I set about trying to buy a pair of boots not made in China recently and was unsuccessful. Ended up having a pair custom made by Russell.

Too late for the automotive industry though, it's inevitably eroding, all because of the "Wal-Mart mentality."

I suppose the fact that they're OE suppliers to brands like Hyundai speaks volume. I was using Mitsubishi brake pads on my Montero, which I believe to be supplied by Sumitomo. Mitsubishi has two lines of brakes, and the set I was using was the expensive stuff.

When the time came to replace them, I went with brake pads used on the Hyundai Galloper, which was Hyundai's version of the Montero/Pajero/Shogun. They were cheaper than the expensive Mitsubishi pads, but also cost more than the cheaper Mitsubishi pads. The Hyundai pads have only been on since December, but they have been great. A couple of months down the line, the Mitsubishi brakes would faintly squeak and I have yet to experience that with the Hyundai pads. I'm not sure if these pads are made by Sangsin, but I'm quite happy with them. There's also less brake dust, which saves me having to pull the wheels off to clean.

I don't mean to go off topic, but I wish it were that simply. I own an American car, built in Canada with some parts sourced from the US (engine, transmission, drive shaft, rear axle for example), some parts made in USA with foreign content (brake pads), some parts made in Canada (dashboard, corner lights, trim pieces, etc.), Mexico (rotors, electrical harnesses, switches, window regulators, etc.), Germany (fuel lines, rails, pressure regulator), China (trim pieces, clock, speedometer and gauges), Liechtenstein (window switches) and goodness knows where else. My Avalanche, on the other hand, is Mexican built with parts sourced from all over the place. When I was buying rotors and pads for it a couple of months ago, the Genuine GM rotors were made in China.

I can see parts made in the USA, IF people are willing to pay for them. But with people looking to make the most out of their dollar, I don't see American workers willing to work for the same wages as the Mexicans and Chinese.

I had the same thing happen. I recently replaced the radiator hoses on my Mercury. I bought all Motorcraft hoses. On the sticker it stated in several places - "Made in Turkey." So much for an American part!

What were the part numbers on the bill/part? Were those the blue silicone hoses, or the rubber ones?
