I've started using this program and it rules!

http://sandboxie.com/

You can set it up so even if malware were to get inside the sandbox, it can't access the internet. Then, delete the sandbox and voilla, there's nothing there. It virtualizes your browser, IM, P2P, anything. Been thoroughly tested by members at Wilders and it's pretty much bullet proof. I now have no antivirus, antispyware, or firewall running in real time (except the SP2 firewall) - much faster. I tested some other sandboxes like Safespace and Bufferzone; Sanboxie is easier, faster and just better...and it's free. You can use it with other system virtualization products and, if you know you're machine is 100% malware free before you start using them, the worry of viruses and spyware will be a thing of the past.

A truly sad commentary on the state of desktop computing when it has come to this.....

You could upgrade to Vista; it is much safer

Very interesting concept nonetheless.

Experts on the Wilder's forum have tried it on all the nasty latest gen malware they have and it stops them cold. Coupled with a product called http://www.returnilvirtualsystem.com , it's bulletproof. Once returnil gets upgraded so you can come out of the virtualization mode without a reboot, it will be so super awesome....you could try any software, do anything to your machine, basically trash it. reboot and it's back to the way it was. Totally awesome.

Bump, you all should really try this program out. Once you understand the concept and how to use it, it's super easy and the protection is bulletproof. Like, there ain't a piece of malware out there that will get past it. There have been quiet a few attacks on seemingly benign websites lately, like Yahoo and Myspace especially, using cross site scripting - heck, some bank sites have been hit with cross site scripting attacks recently, and you likely will be up a creek with just antivirus and antispyware.

I feel naked browsing the internet without it, especially while doing banking/investing.
