Sandboxie and Google

I decided to give Sandboxie a try after some people here praised Sandboxie so much. I was not impressed and uninstalled the program. Well, Sandboxie must not be written too well because the control center was not uninstalled and I had to use Spyware Terminator to remove that (after trying a lot of other things-msconfig etc.).

Once Google was my web search engine of choice. Well, now, I have developed a strong dislike for Google software. I tried to remove the Google toolbar and the Google Toolbar Notifier would not uninstall. I finally was able to remove it using Spyware Terminator. They MUST know at Google about these sort of problems. If this is the best they can do writing software they can keep all of their software.

I am sure I will be attacked here for these comments. But this was my experience. And in searching the internet trying to find out how to remove this junk I discovered that I am far from alone. If people develop software that cannot be completely uninstalled even using proper techniques for removal all of that will catch up to them someday. And there is a growing number of angry people.

So go ahead and attack me. But I will say it again-well written software when uninstalled should not leave behind .exe files on a computer that are still startup programs no longer attached to an application.

My PC does not have issues. It runs very well and fast. It is a custom built PC with Windows 7. And Sandboxie did not uninstall perfectly on my computer. I even reinstalled Sandboxie and then uninstalled it again to see if that would work. I tried msconfig. I tried several things.

I am not saying that Sandboxie is poorly written software. What I can say is that I tried to uninstall it (twice, actually) and an exe. file was left behind. A file that I had a lot of problems trying to remove.

Seconded. On 99.9% of programs it will obliterate 100% of every trace of the program on your computer including registry keys and misc files scattered about.

My comment was regarding the name of the program. I was not commenting on the quality of the program or on Mystic's possible lack of competence. As a Mac user I can easily delete any program from my computer, including the clingy add-ons like Google Notifier. Do you understand my comment now?

Yes, the personal attacks. My ..."possible lack of competence." Strange that I can write about things here and not have to attack somebody personally. It is easy to attack someboy personally. It is harder to be able to discuss the subject at hand.

I have a considerable amount of experience with computers. That experience mostly starts with when we first started using Unix servers at work (although I had some limited experience before that). I think that was sometime back in the 1980s. My experience with Windows starts from Windows 3.1 (an operating system I disliked). My Mac experience starts with Mac OS 7.5.4. I have some limited experience with Linux operating systems. I know how to uninstall programs. If I remember correctly Sandboxie had it's own uninstaller. Otherwise of course somebody can go to the Control Panel and uninstall a program. I also know about msconfig and I use AutoRuns and ProcessExplorer.

And as a Mac user for a long time I can remember having to remove programs that were not removed completely on a Mac. Maybe they had a reason to develop Spring Cleaning software?

Ultimately whatever somebody does here at this website reflects on that person's character, honesty, ability to communicate without resorting to personal attacks, and knowledge of the subject matter at hand.

I will not resort to personal attacks. I think that says something about my character.

I don't know. It looks like Mori attacked DragRace pretty good, but that's just his style. You were pretty much in the clear. All I commented on was how rowdy you get about computer security. It's not a bad thing, it's just noticeable.

Well, it's just that you constantly lament the lack of security when it comes to computers. While pointing fingers at careless users who contract viruses and malware, you yourself seem to have your fair share of issues with security. Now, I don't know if you imagine things, and I have no clue as to your computer ju-ju, but the incessant lamenting is a little tedious. Sure, I don't have to read your posts, but I'm just human and can't resist.

As for the personal attacks, I see Dr. Green's post, in which he gave you kindly his medical diagnosis, has been removed. As for "possible lack of competence," is that an insult? I gave you the benefit of the doubt. For all I know you are the ultimate expert. After all, you repeat your history and experience with Macs and PCs in almost every post, so it could be all true. Keeping your self-proclaimed expertise in mind, why do you keep running into silly issues?

Considering your level of expertise I am befuddled by your issues also. I'm far from remotely good with computers, but I have yet to run into your kind of issues. Maybe I'm just lucky and you're unlucky.
