Samsung Computers any good?

The vast majority of consumer-grade PCs are almost indistinguishable. The bulk of the components are made by other companies, although Voltmaster does make a good point: Samsung makes RAM, storage (HDD or SSD), and optical drives. They are still buying things like wireless cards, power supplies, displays, and batteries from someone else.

In fact, many PC manufacturers don't even manufacture their own PCs. There are large manufacturing firms, like Asus and Quanta, that build HPs, Dells, Apples, and so on.

In the end I would simply tell you to buy the one with the best features for the price, and to try them out in person. Sometimes there is a deal-breaker like the keyboard.

I greatly prefer no glare also, however, you can get a no glare shield (such as Viewguard) for a laptop with a glossy screen.

Royal pain to get on without bubbles/dirt but you can't tell that it was originally a glossy screen once you get it on right.

I always recommend the Lenovo T series as a fail safe bet, just want to put that out there.

As far as Samsung computers go, I have literally never used one. They are not something you see much of.

The keyboard on a Lenovo T series is 85 times better than anything else. I usually use a MacBook Pro. I custom ordered a Lenovo ThinkPad and got the specs I wanted like the bigger battery.

I have a T61 (generation before yours) for myself and my parents. Picked them both up on Ebay last fall , did a little mix and match.

The one I got my parents had Nvidia video card and the high-res screen. Mine was a slower CPU, intel video and low-res screen. I took the fast CPU and high-res monitor for mine and let my parents take the better video card (I care more about battery life)

They are really good laptops. My T60 back in 2006 was one of the first made by Lenovo ... it had a lot of problems. Other than that, they are pretty reliable.

I really love my 3 Series 15.6 inch. Fits in backpack well, yet has decent sized nice screen. Fairly compact and light, and it's withstood a good number of drops and travelling so far.

The A6 quad core and gpu totally rocks IMO, the cores are faster per clock than newer generation one (though the newer ones obviously will have higher frequency and gpu power).

Back in the day when I got it, it wasn't the easiest to get linux set up on it because the hardware and drivers were newer. That, and the fact that there was no caps-lock LED nor wifi LED were my main complaints.

I am selling my Series 3.

I like it, but I have had better.

Is better than the Acer by a mile, but it's "feel" is a little not up to my par. I give it a 7 out of 10.

I am now using a Samsung Q530 laptop with an I5, after ceding the T61 Thinkpad to the wife. I have no complaints and I actually like the chiclet keyboard better than the one on the Thinkpad (although I agree they are very, very good).
