Todays multi grade oils are much better .For a long time, B&S and Tecumseh recommended only detergent 30W. Multigrade oils have a propensity to shear down and “gum” up. Now, B&S has changed their tune and says 5W-30 synthetic is OK as well.
Use the HD30.

I bought a few quarts of SuperTech SAE HD30 and it’s actually SN Plus …I don't know if I would issue such a blanket statement.....
For example, on an air cooled lawnmower (only ran in the heat of summer when the grass grows), the viscosity modifiers used in multigrade oils bring nothing to the table - quite the opposite in fact.
A straight grade will suffer much less from shearing and remain in grade for longer.
WP??? I guess am not getting your point?@tundraotto
Ran Shell hx7 10w40 in my B&S lawnmover.....WP
Same for SHU 5w40 in my Tecumseh HMSK10 snowthrower....WP
The guy at the parts store sugggested the Heavy Duty one... but it's labeled for heavy farming gear and things like that. Ok to use in my Toro recycler and my power washer?
WP stands for "without (a) problem" in my case....I don't know if I would issue such a blanket statement.....

I've been using SAE30HD in my Toro recycler for 10 years as the engine operator's manual calls for a "quality detergent SAE 30 oil". I toyed around with MV oils a couple times and the consumption wasn't worth it so back to SAE30 is.The guy at the parts store sugggested the Heavy Duty one... but it's labeled for heavy farming gear and things like that.
